Heat is Comfortable With Floor Radiant Heat

Have you heard of floor radiant heat? Is this better than other heating systems. How does this heating system work? And how can heating the floor heat your entire house?

Heat generated from floor heating systems is just radiant energy transfer wherein heat travels from a warm surface to a cooler surface, which is your body. It radiates heat upward from the floor to other objects of your house and of course your body.

This is unlike other heating systems wherein the heat generated can be uncomfortable. Floor heating system will give you a warmth that is comfortable. It is similar to walking on a sandy beach that's been soaking up the rays of the sun. Thus, you are provided with optimum comfort and other benefits.

This heating system is usually recommended for concrete floors. This is because concrete is an ideal carrier of radiant heat. Floor radiant heat works by allowing warm water to circulate through the tubing turning the concrete floor into an efficient and inconspicuous radiator.

This heating system can warm your floors to temperatures of 75 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The heat from the floor slowly radiates upward into your living space instead of blowing around heated air like other heating systems do. Thus as compared to other heating systems, this type of heating system can bring forth natural heat transfer that is comfortable and energy efficient.

There are two methods that this heating system can radiate heat from your floors. One is electrically through heated cables, mesh, preformed mats or elements that are embedded in plastic films. The second method is hydronically through tubing that circulates water heated by a boiler or water heater. The type of method you choose will usually depend on the energy cost in your area or the size of your house.

If you are looking for a less expensive system then you can opt for the electric system. This is also simpler and is recommended for areas where electricity is more affordable than other power options. Hydronic systems, on the other hand, have more flexibility in its power source. This is because this system uses a boiler, which can be powered by electricity or any fuel like natural gas, propane, oil and wood. You can even use environment friendly heating sources like solar energy in this type of system. Radiant floor heat is an alternative heating system that is available for you that can have benefits like lower energy costs, lower heating costs, comfort, healthy air, silence, and environment friendly.
