Heated Flooring
To save on your heating costs, installing heated flooring is becoming a popular way for homeowners to save on
their energy costs. This type of flooring is great for cold surfaces, especially in the morning when you first step on the
floor.
Stepping onto a cold floor in the morning or the middle of the night is an
annoying experience. However, with a heated flooring, you will not have the startling experience any more. If you are wondering which room
to have this installed, it really does not matter. Many people choose the bathroom for those late night visits on cold winter
nights.
Another room that heated flooring is popular with is the bedroom. Any room you feel has a cold floor, could have an upgrade to this type of
heating. If your room is of an average size, look to spend anywhere from four hundred to eight hundred dollars.
Heated flooring increases the overall value of a home. In fact, not many homes yet have had this done, but it is a desired feature
for many home buyers. You should also notice a decrease in your heating bills as well. As long as the floor is warm, the need to turn up
the thermostat is not as strong.
When it comes to choosing heated flooring, there are a couple of types available. The cheapest method is probably electric. This
method requires electric coils being placed under the floor. Usually, you should have a contractor or electrician do this type of job.
These coils are similar to the coils in a toaster. When turned on, they heat up the floor.
Another type of heated flooring is hydronic heat. This involves installing pipes underneath your floor. Warm water
is carried through pipes, which then heats the floor. As you can imagine, this is much more involved and you need room under your
floor for the pipes to be installed. Chances of leaking are minimal, but it can occur and is costly to repair.
If you are considering some renovations to your home then
this is the time to install heated flooring. You should notice a savings in your heating bills and you will love the feeling of nice warm
floors on those cold nights.
