Wide Plank Flooring
Are you deciding whether to install wide plank flooring in your home? There are many different types of flooring available
on the market today. One of the toughest decisions is trying to decide which the best option for you is.
Wide plank flooring is larger and wider than most types of flooring. One of
the benefits of having wider planks is to reduce the total amount of seams in the floor. Usually this type of flooring is made from old
growth planks that are not too old or too new.
You may have noticed old homes or cottages had these types of flooring, so
wide plank pine flooring is making a comeback in today’s
homes. Another benefit is that they last a long time as well. They give your home a very rustic authentic look regardless of which room you
have it installed in.
Not all wide plank flooring is the same though. Make sure you choose wood that has been cured for approximately twelve months.
This allows the wood to retain its strength and stability for a long period.
It is possible to install the wide plank flooring over top of many different surfaces such as plywood and a radiant heating
system. Keeping your floor looking its best requires you to apply a finish to the wood. One of the best types of finish to apply is a Tung
Oil finish.
The finish that you apply to the wood plank flooring should be one that is absorbed into the wood and not one that merely coats
it. This will keep the wood lasting longer and will keep it looking good as well. If you apply this type of finish to the wood, you will
not need to apply wax. In addition, it can be cleaned with a mild wood cleaner.
